I am very pleased with the manuscript editing service provided by Dr Kadambini Rout. Her attention to detail, language refinement, and scientific presentation greatly enhanced the quality and readability of my manuscript, while maintaining its technical accuracy without altering its intended meaning. I highly recommend her to researchers, clinicians, and academics seeking high-quality manuscript editing services.

About

I have been on both sides of peer review.

I completed my PhD in plant genetics in 2014 and spent the next seven years as a research scientist, designing studies, analyzing data, writing papers and responding to reviewers myself. In 2019 I began working as a scientific editor.

Since then I have edited more than 2,500 manuscripts across the life and medical sciences, prepared for submission to international journals including titles from Nature Portfolio, Cell Press and The Lancet. I have also written more than 50 full-length research articles from data and drafts supplied by authors writing in English as a second language, and more than 15 clinical case reports built from case records the authors provided. Manuscripts I worked on have been published in journals including JACC: Case Reports, European Heart Journal – Case Reports, Circulation and HeartRhythm Case Reports.

Because I have been both an author and an editor, I understand what researchers need and what reviewers look for. My focus is on making your paper clear, persuasive and ready for submission, while keeping your science and your voice intact.

Core service

Manuscript development

You share your analyzed data, methodology and conclusions. I write a complete, publication-ready manuscript around them and prepare it for your target journal. Includes advice on which tables and figures to include, and verification of the ones you prepare. Written to the relevant reporting guidelines, such as CARE for case reports, CONSORT for trials and STROBE for observational studies.

Research papers from ₹40,000 Clinical case reports and case series from ₹20,000

Manuscript editing

Editing at the level your draft needs, following your instructions and your target journal's requirements. Available for all article types, including review articles.

  • Language Edit, ₹3 per word: grammar, clarity, terminology and consistent style, for a well-structured draft.
  • Substantive Edit, ₹4 per word: adds paragraph flow, structure and argument, and consistency between text, tables and figures.
  • Scientific Edit, ₹5 per word: adds subject-aware review of logic and of how results are interpreted and presented.

You receive: a tracked-changes file, a clean copy, comments explaining key changes, a certificate of editing, and questions answered by email for 30 days.

Conditions

Extensive writing is not included in this service. If your draft needs substantial rewriting, I will suggest manuscript development instead.

The word count covers body text only; your reference list is not charged as editing. Converting references to another journal's style is a separate service.

A minimum fee of ₹4,000 applies to short manuscripts.

₹3–5 per word of body text, by editing level 20% off over 10,000 words · minimum fee ₹4,000

Reviewer response editing

You write the responses and revise the manuscript. I edit your response letter, and verify and substantively edit the revised manuscript for language, tone and consistency with your responses.

Conditions

The response letter is charged as a fixed fee by the number of reviewer comments, not by length, so a fuller reply never costs you more. The revised manuscript is charged per word of body text; the reference list is not counted, and revisions quoted verbatim in the response letter are not counted again.

Response letter: up to 10 comments ₹3,000 · 11–20 ₹5,000 · 21–35 ₹7,500 · 36 or more, quoted. Your comment count is taken from the decision letter, so you have the figure before I start.

If I edited your manuscript earlier, only new or changed manuscript text is charged; the response letter is charged at the base rate.

If the journal raised language issues on a manuscript I edited, the manuscript text is revised free under the language guarantee. See terms

Manuscripts I wrote or edited

You pay the full rate only for new writing

When reviewer comments arrive on a paper I already wrote or edited, I know it well, so I charge the full rate only for the parts that are genuinely new. What you pay depends on how much of the work is writing and how much is checking.

Your situationWhat you are charged
I write the responses and rewrite the manuscriptWriting rate for your response letter and any new text; a reduced rate for the existing text I check and adjust
You rewrite the manuscript; I write the responsesWriting rate for the response letter; a reduced rate for reviewing your revised manuscript
No revision needed: proofreading plus responsesWriting rate for the response letter; the lowest rate for proofreading the manuscript
You write the responses; I rewrite the manuscriptWriting rate for new text; a reduced rate for existing text; your response letter edited at the standard rate
Rejected on scientific or technical groundsPriced like a rewrite, with no response letter; reformatting for the new journal included

See the quality first

What an edit looks like

Before

In this study, it was observed that patients which received the intervention were having significant lower readmission rate as compare to control group (p<0.05).

After

Patients who received the intervention had a significantly lower readmission rate than those in the control group (p < 0.05).

Comment: rewritten in the active voice, grammar and comparison corrected, and statistical notation made consistent.

Illustrative example.

The sample edit shows a full abstract as you would receive it: every change tracked, insertions and deletions marked, and a margin comment explaining each one. Where information is missing or unclear, I do not invent it — I flag the point and suggest wording for you to complete.

FAQ

Questions authors often ask

How is working with you different from an editing company?

You work with me directly. The same person reads your manuscript, does the work and answers your questions, with no hand-offs between editors or project managers.

Do you write the whole paper?

For manuscript development and reviewer response writing, yes: I write the manuscript from your analyzed data, methods and conclusions. You remain the author, I do not generate data or analyses, and my writing support is acknowledged in the paper following ICMJE guidelines.

Do you translate manuscripts into English?

No. I work in English only, so please send your manuscript already in English, however rough the language. If your draft is in another language, have it translated first and I will edit the translation. If you have the data, methods and results but no usable English draft, manuscript development is the right service: I write the paper in English from the material you provide.

Can I send a manuscript drafted with AI tools?

Yes. I check it as carefully as any draft, including whether references exist and whether numbers are consistent, since AI tools can introduce errors. Follow your target journal's policy on disclosing AI use.

Can you guarantee acceptance?

No one can guarantee acceptance, since decisions rest with journal editors and reviewers. I make your manuscript clearer and more submission-ready, and the language guarantee covers language-related outcomes on text I edited.

What happens to my files?

Your files are used only for your project and are never shared. See the privacy section of the terms for details.

Which fields do you cover?

Clinical and biomedical research, life sciences, genetics and molecular biology, and plant and agricultural sciences.

Do you work with authors outside India?

Yes. Authors outside India are quoted in US dollars, and can pay by Wise, PayPal or bank transfer. Everything else is the same: the same services, the same milestones and the same guarantees. I work Indian business hours (IST) and reply within one working day, so please allow for the time difference when you set a deadline.

Do you edit in American or British English?

Either. Tell me your preference, or I will follow your target journal's style.

Will I receive an editing certificate?

Yes. A certificate of editing is included with manuscript editing and reviewer response editing.

How do I pay?

Authors in India can pay by UPI or bank transfer. Authors outside India are invoiced in US dollars and can pay by Wise, PayPal or bank transfer, with any transfer charges borne by the payer. Larger projects are paid in milestones, as set out in the terms.

Terms and conditions

Clear terms, agreed before we start

These terms apply to every project. Select a topic to read the details.

Payments
  • Manuscript development: 40% before starting, 50% on delivery of the first draft, and 10% before final files.
  • Editing, reviewer response editing, assessments, journal suitability analysis, cover letters and journal submission: paid in full before starting.
  • Reviewer response writing: 40% before starting, 50% on delivery of the draft response, and 10% before final files.
  • An invoice is issued by email for every payment, with a secure payment button; a receipt is sent automatically once payment is confirmed.
  • For milestone projects, you return your reviewed files through the project form on this site, and the invoice for that milestone follows once I have confirmed receipt.
  • Final files are released once payment is complete.
  • Payment methods: UPI or bank transfer for authors in India; Wise, PayPal or bank transfer for authors outside India.
  • Authors outside India are invoiced in US dollars. Any bank, card or transfer charges are borne by the payer, so the invoiced amount arrives in full.
  • The same advance applies to every author: work begins once the first payment is received.
Turnaround times
  • Timelines are counted in my working days, starting once the advance payment and all materials are received.
  • Your review time between stages is not included. If a review takes longer than 10 working days, the timeline pauses and resumes when you reply.
  • New material added mid-project may extend the timeline and is quoted separately.
  • Rush work is accepted subject to availability.
Revisions and follow-up rounds
  • Manuscript development and reviewer response writing include two rounds of author feedback. Each extra round is charged at about 10% of the project fee.
  • Editing includes a second round within 30 days, covering your replies to my queries, accepted or rejected changes, and new text up to 10% of the original word count. New text above that is charged per word at the original rate.
  • If more than about 30–40% of the manuscript is rewritten, it is re-quoted as a new job with a 25% returning-manuscript discount.
  • Later rounds are charged per word on new or changed text. Work returned after 60 days is a new job, except reviewer response editing of manuscripts I edited earlier, where only new or changed manuscript text is charged.
  • Please return files with Track Changes on.
Discounts
  • PhD scholars: 20% off.
  • Returning authors: 10% off.
  • Launch offer: 20% off projects booked before 31 December 2026.
  • Editing and reviewer response editing: 20% off above 10,000 words.
  • Assessment fees are credited in full if you book a service within 30 days.
  • Only one of the scholar, returning-author or launch discounts applies per project.
Manuscripts I wrote or edited

Reviewer responses and resubmissions on a manuscript I previously wrote or edited are priced by component rather than as a whole job. The response letter is charged as a fixed fee by the number of reviewer comments, whether I write it or edit yours, so its length never changes the price. New manuscript text is charged at the writing rate of ₹10 per word. Existing text is charged at a percentage of the editing rate that depends on the work involved:

  • I rewrite the manuscript: 35% of the editing rate for manuscripts I wrote, 50% for manuscripts I edited. Where a journal word limit means existing text must be compressed, those words are charged at 75% (wrote) or 85% (edited).
  • You rewrote the manuscript and I check it: 50% (wrote) or 65% (edited).
  • No revision needed, proofreading only: 10% (wrote) or 20% (edited).
  • Response letter, written by me or edited from your draft: up to 10 comments ₹3,000 · 11–20 ₹5,000 · 21–35 ₹7,500 · 36 or more, quoted.

A rejection on language or writing quality alone costs nothing to revise, under the language guarantee; a journal suitability analysis for the new journal is charged separately at ₹2,500. A rejection on scientific or technical grounds is priced as a rewrite.

These reduced rates do not apply if the manuscript has changed by more than about 30% since my version, or comes back more than 12 months later; it is then priced as a new manuscript. A second or later round of reviewer comments is new work and is priced the same way again.

The total is capped at the standard price for the same job, and the ₹4,000 minimum fee applies.

Language guarantee

This guarantee applies only if you submitted the final file exactly as last edited by me, with no further changes to the text. Accepting my tracked changes, adding author details and journal formatting do not count as changes.

  • If the journal rejects the manuscript explicitly for language reasons, the editing fee is refunded. For manuscript development and response writing, a free language revision is offered instead of a refund.
  • If language is raised as one of the reviewer comments, I revise the manuscript text free of charge, excluding new sections or new analyses requested by reviewers. The response letter is charged at the usual fixed fee.
  • Please share the decision letter or reviewer comments and the version you submitted, so it can be compared with my delivered file.
  • Claims must be made within 12 months of delivery.
On-time delivery guarantee
  • A deadline is met if work is delivered by 11:59 pm IST on the due working day.
  • 1 working day late: 10% off. 2–3 working days late: 20% off. More than 3 working days late: 30% off, or you may cancel and receive a refund for undelivered stages.
  • For multi-stage projects, the refund applies to the fee for the delayed stage.
  • This does not apply to delays caused by late materials or feedback, scope changes, or events beyond my control, provided I notify you promptly.
Journal submission on your behalf
  • You provide all author details, affiliations, declarations (conflicts of interest, funding, ethics approval, patient consent), suggested reviewers and journal forms.
  • I submit through your journal account, and you approve the final PDF proof before submission.
  • You remain responsible for all information and declarations provided.
What you receive with editing
  • A tracked-changes file, a clean copy, and comments explaining key changes.
  • A certificate of editing, with manuscript editing and reviewer response editing.
  • Questions about the edit answered by email for 30 days after delivery.
  • American or British English, as you prefer or as your target journal requires.
Privacy
  • I collect only what is needed to respond to you and deliver your project: your name, contact details and files.
  • Files are stored securely, used only for your project, and deleted 6 months after completion unless you ask me to keep them longer.
  • Your details are never sold or shared. Feedback is published only with your consent, in the form you choose.
  • You can ask me at any time to access, correct or delete your information.
Confidentiality and acknowledgment
  • Your manuscript, data and correspondence are used only for your project and are never shared.
  • Writing support should be acknowledged in your paper, following ICMJE guidelines.
Not included
  • Writing review articles (I edit and assess them), statistical analysis, figure creation and graphical abstracts.
  • Acceptance by any journal cannot be guaranteed.
Cancellations and refunds
  • Fees for work already delivered are not refundable.
  • If you cancel before a stage begins, any advance paid for that stage is refunded.
